Ketchikan to Sitka July 28-August 7, 2012

This trip offers an extraordinary opportunity to join a small group of professional photographers/ advanced amateurs of international stature on a 10 day trip through most of the length of Southeast Alaska. This is not a teaching trip, rather it is an opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of some outstanding photographers while experiencing some of the finest photo opportunities that S.E. Alaska has to offer. This trip contains the best of the elements in the above described trips of Ketchikan to Petersburg and Petersburg to Juneau. In addition the vessel will travel up Chatham Straits then Peril Straits and into Sitka Sound. Here we visit St. Lazaria National Wildlife Refuge known for Puffins. Sea Otters are occasionally seen in Sitka Sound as well as seals and sea lions. Both landscape and wildlife photographers will find this trip rewarding. The trip ends in the picturesque commercial fishing community of Sitka, formerly the Russian America capitol, New Archangel.

12:00 Noon - Depart Ketchikan
5:00 pm - Arrive Neets Bay (Black Bears)

Day 2

10:00 AM - Depart Neets Bay
8:00 PM - Arrive Fools Inlet (Secure anchorage near Anan Creek)

Day 3

8:00 AM - Depart Fools Inlet, Anchor Mouth of Anan Creek @ 9:00 (Black and Brown bears)
5:00 PM - Depart for Wrangell
7:30 PM - Arrive Wrangell (Historic city, formerly under Russian, English and American control )

Day 4

7:00 AM - Depart Wrangell
12:00 Noon - Arrive Petersburg Colorful Norwegian fishing community)
2:00 PM - Depart Petersburg
7:00 PM - Arrive Brothers Island (Heart of Humpback and Orca feeding area)
8:00 PM - Depart Brothers Island
9:00 PM - Anchor Gambier Bay (Salmon streams, possible bears)

Day 5

7:00 AM - Depart Gambier Bay (Salmon streams with often Brown Bears)
12:00 Noon - Arrive Pack Creek (Premier Brown bear watching area)
6:00 PM - Depart Pack Creek
8:00 PM - Anchor Mole Harbor (Possible bears at salmon streams)

Day 6

7:00 AM - Depart Mole Harbor for Endicott Arm, Dawes Glacier (Beautiful very active glacier)
8:00 PM - Anchor No Name Cove (Large sculptured iceburgs ground on bar at entrance)

Day 7

7:00 AM - Depart No Name Cove
10:00 AM - Brothers Islands (Humpbacks and possible orcas)
3:00 PM - Depart Brothers Islands
9:00 PM - Anchor Whitewater Bay, (White sand beach, scenic lagoon, salmon stream, possible bears)

Day 8

11:00 AM - Depart Whitewater Bay (Humpbacks and possible orcas along route,scenic narrow waterway)
8:00 PM - Arrive Sitka (Capitol of Russia America, rich in history, fishing town)

Day 9

7:00 AM - Depart Sitka
8:00 AM - Arrive St. Lizaria National Wildlife Refuge (Noted for Puffins)
9:00 PM - Anchor South Sitka Sound

Day 10

7:00 AM - Depart anchorage, cruise Sitka Sound looking for sea otter, seals and sea lions
12:00 Noon - Arrive Sitka
